On January 22nd, 2025, Samsung held their iconic Galaxy Unpacked Event, where they focused on revealing their upcoming big smartphone model, plus any additional tech releases, news or updates. In our previous blog, we predicted what we would see in the event, which we documented over time on our socials. And as we guessed, we were correct! So let’s get into this blog where we further explore the next official Samsung Galaxy smartphone of 2025, the Galaxy S25!

What was announced at Galaxy Unpacked?

In our previous blog, we also predicted that the Ring 2 could have been revealed however it wasn’t. In 2024, the original Galaxy Ring was released in the summer, so could we see more news on this tech as we get further into the year? Many also assumed we wouldn’t hear about the Android headset, but we remained positive, and we did get an insight.

In the blog, we will focus purely on the Samsung S25 range that was revealed.

Is Samsung releasing a new phone in 2025?

As usual, Samsung released a series of Galaxy phones. The Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra. These phones range in price with the S25 Ultra being the most expensive. The S25 is the regular smartphone released by Samsung, the S25+ works just like the S25 however is bigger at 6.7” instead of 6.2”. And finally, the S25 Ultra is the more powerful phone with an improved camera, additional tech effects and more AI features. In America, the S25 is set to be available at $800, the S25+ will be $1000, and the Ultra is set at $1300. All phones are currently available for pre-order and will be officially made available on February 7th, 2025.

There was another new smartphone teased by Samsung called the Galaxy S25 Edge, which was described as Samsung's new ‘thin phone’. It is still only teased (there is no release date or pre-order date) but we did get a look into what the phone could contain. Physically looking at the phone, it’s a lot thinner, slimmer and therefore lighter. Competing directly with Apple's alleged iPhone 17 Air that’s coming out. The phone also has a slightly weaker camera quality, having 2 cameras and not 3 like the standard models. We assume this will be a ‘budget-friendly’ edition… possibly priced around $500-$700.

It will be great to finally get a new update in the Galaxy phone series, but is this just a copy of the thin iPhone set to release? Did Samsung do it first to get ahead of the competition?

Is the Samsung S25 Ultra launched?

Let’s dive deeper into the Galaxy phone with the most changes out of all the models, the S25 Ultra.

As we said, this phone is priced at around $1300 making it the most expensive, most powerful and best of the three. It was the only phone to get a spec upgrade regarding the camera quality, with a 50MP Ultrawide lens whereas the S24 Ultra sported a 12MP Ultrawide lens. This model also has a 6.9” display making it bigger than the S25+ model with Corning’s Gorilla Armor 2 giving it advanced drop protection. And of course, the Ultra still has the iconic Samsung pen yet again continuing the tradition. The phone will be available in Titanium Silverblue, Grey, Black and Whitesilver as well as the exclusive website colours that are Jetblack, Jadegreen and Pinkgold.
