Google Pixel Event Highlights

Yesterday, Google held their Google Pixel Event, where they announced the upcoming release of their new products, the Google Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, the Pixel Watch 2 and the Pixel Buds Pro.

Is Google Pixel 8 launched?

The main highlight of the event was the new information on the Google Pixel 8, Google announced that the new device will offer a 6.2-inch Actua display making the device's screen clear and bright even in direct sunlight.

Internally, with a 120 Hz refresh rate, 8GB of RAM and storage options that go up to 256GB, the new Google Pixel 8 will provide a smooth and lag-free experience for users. Externally, the device will offer a fresh, modern design with a satin finish being available in hazel, obsidian and rose.

The anticipation of the Google Pixel 8 focused heavily on the device’s camera. Viewers were left impressed by the announcement of two cameras on the rear of the device, a wide primary camera with 50 MP and an ultrawide shooter with 12MP. Focussing on the front of the camera, the Pixel 8 will have a 10.5MP camera that uses Google AI to sharpen and improve pictures.

When can you buy the Google Pixel 8?

The Google Pixel 8 release date is soon, with Google confirming the device is currently available to pre-order with the actual release being October 12th.

The Google Pixel 8 Pro was the other major highlight of this event. Google revealed the device will have a much bigger screen size than the Pixel 8 boasting a 6.7-inch Super Actua display, one of the brightest displays created by Google ever, and a 120 Hz refresh rate.

Focussing on storage, the Pixel 8 Pro doesn’t disappoint, available in storage of up to 512GB and with 12GB RAM, Google fans will have no problem when it comes to keeping their photos and videos stored safe. And with a rear triple camera setup, offering a 50MP Octa PD Wide Camera, 48MP Quad PD Ultrawide Camera and 48MP Quad PD Telephoto Camera, we know that fans will want to keep their memories secure.

Is it worth upgrading from Pixel 7 to 8?

The Pixel 8 Pro uses the Google Tensor G3 chip, which is custom designed for cutting-edge photography. Looking at the design of the phone, the Pixel 8 Pro comes in a polished aluminium frame with matt black glass.

The Google Pixel 8 Pro is currently available to pre-order with its release also being October 12th. Fans will be able to pre-order the device in a range of colours including obsidian, porcelain, and bay blue.

Also making their debut at the event, Google revealed their latest 2 new pieces of tech, the Pixel Watch 2 and Google Pixel Buds Pro.

Pixel Watch 2:

  • The second generation of the Pixel watches.
  • Features an improved battery life, going up to 24 hours with one single charge cycle.
  • The design is similar to the first watch however features a new aluminium material with reduced weight.

Pixel Buds Pro:

  • These earbuds will feature a brand-new conversation detection that supports Bluetooth Super Wideband for better sound quality on calls.
  • Buds will use AI to detect when you start speaking, reducing background noise by switching instantly to transparency mode. Music and sound will resume to normal once you stop talking.
