What and Where is Google IO 2024?

The Google I/O 2024 Event is an annual conference held to reveal the latest announcements in Google technology, featuring product news reveals, unpacking innovations and the opportunity to hear from Google itsels. This year, the event is being held on May 14th in California but will be live-streamed worldwide for all Google and tech fans to enjoy. But with only 1 more month until the event is here, what could we expect to hear?

There have already been plenty of rumours circulating what we could see, so let’s take a look at those rumours and then provide our predictions. Let’s get into it.

What does IO stand for Google IO? – Often shortened to I/O, this symbol is taken from the number googol. The "I" represents the "1" in googol and the "O" represents the first "0" in the number.

What to expect from Google in 2024?

Straight away we are almost certain that we will see the announcement of some new Google phones like the Google Pixel 9 and Android 15 whilst also getting further details on Googles AI and Gemini Google AI journey. There has been lots of talk recently over some Google product leaks, like the Google Pixel Fold 2 so could we see further information on this?

Going back to Google AI, there has been lots of talk over Google collaborating with Apple on the upcoming Apple iPhone, with even some images being captured of the head of Apple and Google being spotted together. We know that in the 2023 Google event, AI was a massive part of it, so we assume updates on the yearly improvements will be announced also.

Finally, if Google follow their usual release plans we may hear more about a possible Pixel Watch 3, the previous 2 models were released in October 2022 and 2023 so we think we may see an insight to this for the 2024 edition.
