On July 10th, 2024, it was revealed at the iconic Galaxy Unpacked Event that Samsung would release a wearable tech ring called The Galaxy Ring that would be available from July 24th, 2024, along with the Z Fold and Flip 6 devices. The Samsung Galaxy ring price is set at $399. It would compete against the Oura Ring, the originally wearable tech ring released in 2015 and has had 2 additional generations released since then.
Now that the ring is finally here, we thought it would be good to look at its features, Samsung fans’ opinions and finally what we think of the new tech. Does it live up to the hype? Let’s take a look!

What colours are the Samsung ring?
To begin let’s take a look at the techs design. The Samsung Galaxy ring is available in 3 colours, gold, white and black. The gold option is available in a stunning glossy finish whilst the black and white show off a gorgeous matte look and of course, comes in a classic circular smart ring shape. It comes in 9 sizes available in US sizes 5-13 and has a lightweight, titanium material build. What we loved about the design of the Galaxy Ring was how stylish it was and how discreet. The tech is hidden inside the ring, and it is impossible to tell from an outside perspective that it is anything other than a regular ring.
In comparison to the Oura Ring, the Galaxy Ring is slightly narrower and is very easy to put on and off whilst also at the same time staying firmly around the finger without slipping off, especially when in water. We also like how the ring works on whatever finger you choose to wear it on, it isn’t fixed to one specific finger. Please note however: that whilst being able to be worn on any finger, the Double Pinch Feature has been designed specifically to work on the index finger only, so some limitations may be present if you wear the tech on another finger.

Positives:
When taking a look at a lot of other tech fans' opinions, they all stated that the Galaxy ring feels a lot comfier compared to the tech watch. Many people mentioned that they would switch from the smartwatch to the smart ring due to practicality. It is a great device for tracking health, especially if you don’t want to carry a bulky mobile or smartwatch.
At the beginning of this blog, we mentioned how the smart ring is $399.99. You may read that and think it seems quite pricey, however, Samsung mentioned at their announcement event that none of the features of the ring will require a subscription or additional payment, once the user buys the product that is all. We think this makes the $399 price range very affordable, users automatically unlock all features and benefits with no additional payment which is great.
Negatives:
However, it isn’t a review without some improvements. And we have a couple to suggest. The device pairs well with the Samsung Galaxy phones, but it is only compatible with these devices and ones that allow Samsung Health. That means many phone users will be cut off if they don’t have these features installed.
As well as this, it was recommended by Samsung themselves and even mentioned a few times by other reviewers that the tracking system and features don’t work or register well if your finger is covered by a mole or tattoo, so it is best to put the ring onto another finger, we think it’s a shame the device can’t track around these features as again, this could be a huge market that could be impacted by this design flaw, therefore, ruining their Galaxy ring experience.

Conclusion:
But overall we are very happy with how the Galaxy Ring has turned out. It has been rumoured for 2024, so finally seeing it here is a great factor. Although there are a couple of drawbacks to the device, the overall price and features available on the ring, plus the way it looks itself, is great and we would recommend checking it out. But if you’re not a smart ring fan, why not check out our smartwatches or smartphones? We have plenty available from the top brands. Take a look!
