iPad Pro and iPad Air 2024 Review
Tech advice | by Charlotte Bolton | May 17, 2024
On May 7th at the ‘Apple Let Loose Event’, the new iPad models the Air and Pro were revealed to Apple fans. Just over a week later on May 15th, it was confirmed the iPads were available for shipping and after a long 2 year wait since the last iPad model was released, fans were excited to see what the tech would offer.
We thought we would break up the two new models and take a look at their specs, plus give our thoughts on their performance taking in other people's opinions too to help you decide if this new iPad is something to consider purchasing.

iPad Air 2024:
The first iPad we will be checking out is the iPad Air 2024, perfect for anyone on a budget who still wants those impressive tech features. This cheaper iPad option is perfect for anything work-related, whether that’s in the office or at school/university. With a Centre Stage camera feature, automatically keeps everyone in the frame at once making it suitable for all forms of video calls, and with a Liquid Retina Display get ready for extreme dynamic range on your screen with a gorgeous selection of high contrast and bright colours. And don’t worry about damaging your iPad whilst taking it out and about, the new Smart Folio cover provides extra support from any unnecessary scratches or bumps.
The 2024 iPad Air is ideal for those who love a good MacBook but want a new device that is easier to transport and still offers all the top features, however, we did notice the iPad doesn’t offer Face ID, which may cause users some problems if Face ID is a feature you use often.
General specs:
- Screen size – 11” and 13”.
- Supports Apple Pencil Pro – Yes.
- Colour availability – Silver and Space Black.
- Front Camera – Ultra Wide 12MP, landscape camera.
- Chipset – M2 chip.
- Battery life– Up to 10 hours.
iPad Pro 2024:
Next up is the model everyone was waiting for, the new iPad Pro 2024 model described as the thinnest Apple product ever. With new advanced features, you can simplify everyday tasks, the true-tone flash makes document scanning that much quicker, and with the oled displays technology and brand new Ultra Retina XDR display, your viewing experience will be much more elevated improving the standard screen quality of the past iPad Pros. And like the iPad Air, don’t worry about damaging your product as the Smart Folio case will keep your product safe.
We love all these brand-new features on the iPad Pro model however one aspect we are slightly disappointed in is the model's price range. Beginning at $999 we do feel like this is slightly too expensive, considering the MacBook Air starts at $999 which is very similar to this iPad model. Plus, if you shop with a refurbished tech group like Envirofone, you can get your hands on MacBooks and other Apple refurbished iPads at even cheaper, refurbished prices!
General specs:
- Screen size – 11” and 13”.
- Supports Apple Pencil Pro – Yes.
- Colour availability – Silver and Space Black.
- Back Camera – 12MP, low lighting.
- Chipset – M4.
- Battery life – Up to 15 hours.
